Every region has its own traditions to start in the new year. In Razlog a small city in the Bulgarian mountains Pirin has its own special tradition. A carneval which starts at six in the morning with dancing, competitions and a lot of Rakija.

The international volunteer day has been celebrating at the 5th of December, every year since 1985. Each year it has an own motto which was this year: “Volunteers build Resilient Communities”. We, the team of IIC Razlog, decided to participate and promote volunteering for youngsters in Razlog one week ago.

Corruption is a huge, widespread problem in Bulgaria. The government is fighting against it but this is not easy. Even the work of investigation journalists is dangerous.
