Haha, I already forgot about Kartoffel-Salat and powder puree which are both more than not so tasty, they're discusting! I can understand you how you feel about the masses of Pasta in Germany, Im having the same problem here in Hungary with masses of meat everywhere! (By the way, I learned gulyas is the better the longer it takes, so absolut not fast prepared!) Sadly most of the germans or at least the germans I know are eating traditional food with potatoes mainly at home! But wait for may and June when there is "Spargelzeit", I never seen that vegetable with something else then potatoes.... but maybe the crazy "Baden" or as the rest of germany calls them "Späzlefresser"=) are mixing it with pasta. Halte durch! :)

@Jonas_Aehling: I am from Baden and we are absolutly no "Spätzlefresser". We only love this nuddles, but we don`t mix it with everything. Please forget your prejudices and visit this part of Germany before telling such storries! @fodortekla: I am from Donaueschingen, just about 1 hour by car from Stuttgart. I know exactly what food you can find at the supermarket. But trust me: The best food is made by our grandmothers and mothers. So if you want to eat realy German food you have to get to know an old lady ;) The most recipes for really good German food are also very cheap and fast! So if you want to do some Spätzle, realy potatosalat or potato püree just ask me and I will tell you how to make it the right way! About the red potatos: Not all supermarkets have so many kinds of potatos, but maybe try "Edeca" or "Rewe". Or look for an open market, maybe you can find your potatos there! Good luck!

thanks for all the comments and support :) I totally agree with the fact that 99% our mothers and grandparents can prepare the most delicious food :) I searched for red-potatoes in Rewe, but I just find 3 types of white potatoes :)) I can survive with these also, I just dont wanna eat pasta and Co. for some while :D :D @Avydan: And be sure, I will contact you for good recipes :D

But to be honest this is not just a german problem...most of the young people dont know how to cook a dinner all by themselves. I am lucky because my mother is a really good cook and I learnd many thinks by just watching but still I have to learn many things. Cooking needs time and most of the people dont take the time to prepare a food. I hate Kartoffelpüre made out of powder. I hate jam from the supermarket I am used to self made Pizza sooooo since I have my own life without mommy cooking something ( sad about that ) I have to make all this things myself and I am doing it ;)
