For one month now I live and work here in Sweden. Time for a little update.
One of my so far most used word here in Sweden is “bra”. It means “good” and I use it almost in every greeting. It sounds kind of superficial to ask every time if everyone feels good but I experienced that when people here ask someone how they feel, they really care. And because of this welcoming feeling since the beginning after my first month here I can say: “Jag mår riktigt bra!” – I feel really good!
We have the beginning of October what means I have lived in Sweden for a whole month now. It`s really crazy because on one hand I feel like I just came here and time goes by so fast but on the other hand it feels so much like as I have lived here for such a long time now. (Well, except my Swedish. I`m still in the process of learning…)
But besides my Swedish, things here are going so well. During the weeks Jonas, my roommate, and I are getting into a routine. It needs some time to adjust to the working hours since Rapatac is opened in the afternoon and evening but since our job is so much fun it is no problem to work until 8pm. But I will not tell you too much about it yet because I`m planning on writing an extra post about my work.
However, next to the fun but still challenging tasks at the Youth Center we like to cook in the evenings, what is always fun to do together. Also we have free time in the mornings and at the weekends. I really like to use this time to explore our new home town and the surrounding area. After many bike tours, walks, and trips by bus or car I already got to see quite a lot of this part of Sweden. The nature here really is amazing and now that it is fall time all the colorful trees and the cold weather make me as an outdoor lover really happy.
Last weekend for example I went to a horse event and mushroom picking afterwards. The weather was amazing so it was really great to spend the day outside, talking with my friends and exploring the Swedish culture and nature. Jonas` family also visited, so together we went to a pub for dinner what was a great experience as well.
Yesterday we did a bike tour to Högbo. The bike trails in the forest are really pretty so already the way to this small town was an adventure. Högbo is known for its outdoor sport, local stores and some small manufactories. It was fun to visit those and get to know about all the possible outdoor activities we can try around here.
Today it`s a rainy Sunday what gives us time to bake Cinnamon Rolls for work. Because tomorrow it is national “Kanelbullens dag” (Cinnamon bun day) and since Sweden is famous for their Cinnamon rolls, sweet pastries, and Fika in general we are really looking forward to eat even more of that.
All right, I think this was enough of an update for now. As I said, I will talk separately about Rapatac and my work soon since there is just so much to tell!
I hope you all enjoyed my post and have a great day whenever you read this.
