Miss B & Mr. MayB
Name and title change in the Paradise
Everything started with an Italian dinner where a guy invited me in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. I had no idea where it would take place exactly, so I picked up Kevin and we went together. I thought there will be a lot of girls cooking, but it turned out that actually men would prepare the supper. One guy, whose scientific diagnosis would be a surf addict, arrived an hour late.
The next time I saw this man, was at the Carnival, the craziest party in the island. It is the time when everybody is singing and dancing fancy-dressed on and behind trucks and there is an extremely special party called Indianos, where each and every person is wearing white clothes pouring talcum-powder. The result: totally white streets and experienced musicians arriving in dust masks. This was the time when I got to know Mr Maybe better, dressed up as a lady and me as a ladybird. So, this is where my name (B) comes from. And where does Mr Maybe derive from? He never gave a definite answer to any question. Anyway, he became my love, best friend and the greatest tour guide in the island.
We have visited several beaches and distant places by car. He showed me how to do snorkeling and see the fishes and wonderful creatures of the ocean that I have never seen before. I adored it, so I practiced it more often. We were surfing together and he tried to teach me a couple of things related to it. Dancing and BBQ parties were also quite common, as well as canoeing, cycling and eating with his friends.
I came home to work during the summer season and we still tried to keep contact. I had some flat problems when I returned to the island in September, so he hosted me and we spent the first week together with his friends and family. Even though I could not surf yet, I went with them to travel and read while they were in the water. It was fun and I really appreciated his help.
Since that time a lot of things have changed and we are not a couple anymore. I do not mind it, since I consider that period a quite significant and positive part of my life that I could spend with a special person. I learnt a lot from him about the love of nature and the importance of sports. As our relationship transferred, so did his name. He is not MayB anymore, but Avocado Man.
I am at home and my life is completely different now, but there are things that are constant: our friendship and the experience I got. He still helps me if I need anything and I would like to return his kindness if he comes to Hungary in the future.
Thanks for the man who made the strangest expiatory gesture towards me when I was offended, giving me a package of homegrown avocados, that I still consider the tastiest in my life.
