Study in Germany: what has changed for international students.
Since March, Germany has introduced new rules for non-EU specialists. There are also changes in the immigration law that apply to those who want to get a German diploma
Surely many young people after the end of the volunteer project wanted to stay in their beloved European country.Today, a student from any country can obtain a German visa to study at a university or college of pre-university training, as well as to attend language courses in Germany. In Germany, the number of vacancies for those wishing to take industrial training in the dual system (Berufsausbildung) is growing. There is a shortage of workers, and there are fewer German school graduates who are pursuing this model, partly due to demographic problems. And although with the new law for those non-EU foreigners who want to undergo vocational training in Germany, the German Federal Labor Agency will continue to check for priority (that is, they will be allowed to fill a vacancy only if there is no applicant from Germany or the EU), the chances are Russian or Ukrainian school graduates to undergo vocational training and then stay to work at a German enterprise are still quite good.
It was possible to obtain a German visa for vocational training in production in Germany before. To do this, you must present an agreement with the employer. Also, the applicant must be no older than 25 years. And his certificate must meet the formal requirements that apply to all applicants entering German universities. You can check if the school certificate gives the right to study at a German university on the Anabin website. For example, if a certificate of secondary complete general education was received after 2015, then you need to study for another year at the university in your country. And with a diploma from a secondary specialized educational institution, two more years of university are needed. It is curious that if the applicant has already found a production facility that is ready to take him for training, and he has a contract, then the rule for entering universities does not apply to him.In their free time from vocational training, students are allowed to earn up to 10 hours a week.It is also necessary to confirm the availability of life support for the entire period of stay in the amount of 939 euros per month or provide a financial guarantee. In addition, the applicant must have knowledge of German at a fairly high level B2. If the knowledge is not enough for the chosen specialty, the new law allows you to get a visa to attend a language course - general or by profession.
I thought about the opportunity to stay and start studying almost immediately, especially since participation in volunteering can improve the chances in this direction. As I attended German courses and knowledge of German at an advanced level is a prerequisite for obtaining a job or study in Germany. In addition, since I have already worked and lived in the country as part of the volunteer movement, this improves my chances of getting a job in Germany.
