Salzburg
Where the music meets apple strudel, the steps are always not enough to enjoy beautiful views, antiquity and modern come together to surprise you.
A little gem nestled in the mountains: this is Salzburg!
If you are searching for a city that can offer you not only museums but also nature's contact, quiet, history and naturally music... well, you have to visit Salzburg!
The most famous person linked to Salzburg is a composer: W.A.Mozart. He is the icon of the city, you will find him everywhere in the shops of the center. Fans come here from all over the world to visit the place where all began, I'm speaking about the house where he was born!
I suggest a combination ticket (Mozart's Geburtshaus+Wohnhaus), it's a tour that every music lover must do! ^^
If you like nature there are two mountains (Mönchsberg and Kapuzinerberg) very near to the city where you can enjoy of beautiful views: with snow, with the sun or the rain... Salzburg is always so nice!! But prepare yourself to walk and walk, good shoes are necessary.
The churches are welcoming, different styles.
The cathedral is filled with music (Orchestra, choir and organ) during the Easter period but not only in this period i think. :)
The music is also out... in the festivals, in the fortress, in the Mozarteum. Salzburg is also famous for its puppets theater!
Certainly you can not miss a visit to the fortress, the heart invincible of the city. With one ticket you can go (on foot or by funicular) and visit the museums inside.
I suggest to make a nice break in the tavern: with a delicious apple strudel!
For shopping time there is Getreidegasse: well, not stop at the main road but also explores the small interior arcades.
There is also a beautiful music's shop. ^^
I have bought two economic harmonica and now i will learn a new instrument. Can be also a good and unusual souvenir! ;)
For a relax pause a short walk in Mirabell Garten, it's not Vienna's Schönbrunn but is nice! Of course is best in spring when everything is in bloom.
The main attractions are in the old part of the city that can be visited only by walk.
The sistem of transport is good expecially for connections with the train station.
For a long stay (one week) can be used a week-ticket!
Anyway, there is also a limited-hours offert: the "Salzburg card" that can be a good compromised for short visit.
There are other things to say, but I prefer that every future visitor will find by him/herself something that will make him/her to say "I made a good choice to visit Salzburg!". ;)
