Answer the question “Sprechen Sie Deutsch?” To the students of the Prague School No. 1501 is not difficult. They are learning German from the second grade, when they are older they take an international exam, and then some of the graduates go to German universities, including the Goethe-Institute program “Bridge to German University”.
The school practically from the very beginning participates in the PASCH program, initiated in 2008 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and now President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. “German has always been our traditional foreign language. The school celebrates its centenary this year, several generations of graduates speak German. Former students bring their children and most often write them in a class not with English, but with German, says the German teacher Lyubov Babicheva. “Thanks to PASCH, we get teaching aids and textbooks from German publishers.” The school is provided with modern equipment, the best students go to language camps for free. The guys know that with German they have a lot of opportunities and a competitive advantage when they enter universities. ”
The PASCH initiative unites 100 schools in the Czech Republic. They underwent a rigorous competitive selection by the German Foreign Ministry on several criteria: German lessons at least two hours a week, teachers ’desire to participate in different projects, the readiness of an educational institution to become an experimental city-wide platform. “We do not pay teachers, we do not promise them fees. The teachers work with us because they really like our program, ”says project assistant Evgeny Gertsev.
Teachers not only receive methodological support. They improve their skills in Germany. They have the opportunity to organize lessons for children with native speakers. Experts from Germany come to schools and stage performances with children, play music, conduct scientific experiments. The guys hear live German speech, and a foreign language does not seem to them to be an abstract subject, unnecessary in life.
“The foundation of the PASCH initiative is German, all projects are built on it. And if the school refuses to teach German, then with great regret we are forced to stop cooperating with it, ”explains Yevgenia Gertsev. New participants are accepted, including on the recommendation of the Interregional Association of Teachers and Teachers of the German Language, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been coordinating candidates for quite some time, but the wait is worth it. In addition to the obvious advantages, participation in the program provides an opportunity to enter the international educational platform, share experiences with other schools in the world and communicate through the special online platform www.pasch-net.de.
Advertise the program not only abroad, but also in Germany itself. During the anniversary year, a special car travels around the country - PASCH-Mobil. He makes stops where international educational events take place, and his participants talk about the best projects carried out under the initiative. German schools can also become its participants and find friends of the German language in different countries.
