Let's start with the reasons.
Why can't the ESK volunteer get out of bed and how can this be related to the situation around quarantine? To find this "XXX", one must think like "XXX". I'm starting to feel how scared I am. The world is going crazy, Aldi shelves are slowly emptying, restaurants are closed. Takeaway coffee no longer exists. Gradually, I am getting into a state of panic, getting ready for filming in the series about the apocalypse, after I understand that I messed up something, and this is my life. By the way, not very similar to the apocalypse, thank God.
I'm starting to get used to it, a few attempts to register for online courses - and a miracle happens. I am lying on a bed surrounded by apathy and anxiety. I forgot, there is still food and TV shows. I seem to be a teenager. Why do quarantined teens experience depression?
The process of European youth getting used to the quarantine regime failed. Young people are in difficult conditions when their usual lives have changed dramatically. Now, in isolation, they no longer have the opportunity to communicate with friends, as before, to go to work and just walk along the street. Many of them feel apathetic and depressed. Depressive conditions in young people can occur for a number of reasons. Now, due to quarantine, their parents and relatives are experiencing stress. Anxiety, nervousness lead to psychological stress.
At such moments, parents may treat children with irritation. In addition, the children themselves may have different problems. Perhaps at the same time they are depressed. For example, if parents are on earnings, children feel lonely, face a lack of experience in solving life situations, this leads to a feeling of helplessness, to despair.
In psychologically difficult moments, different thoughts begin to take hold of a person. He may think that life has lost its meaning, that it is now easier to commit suicide. There are social factors. When financial difficulties arise, parents begin to scold children and humiliate them. All this creates the conditions for psychological problems in children. Physiological characteristics also cause stress. For example, some adolescents mature earlier than others, they begin hormonal changes. Information hygiene is no less important than personal.
What to do?
These conditions remain difficult for both adults and adolescents. However, the latter, first of all, it is important to understand their responsibility for their own health and mental health. From my experience with teenagers, I realized a few things that can help them: Find a goal and motivation. At least after quarantine. In times of crisis, we can depreciate our own achievements and ourselves in particular. A clear goal, a sense of movement will help to feel useful and alive. Do not blame yourself for laziness. Under such conditions, this is a normal, even classical reaction of the body. Give yourself peace of mind, unload your head, maybe then you can find yourself some interesting business. Unleash the senses. We have never experienced such a crisis moment. The world around is changing at a frantic speed and this puts pressure on everyone. From tears you will not become weaker, but you can release emotions and help your mental health. Build a chart. If you have always complained about your own disorganization, now is the time to change it. Write your day on a piece of paper or in your favorite notebook. This will help to prioritize, see the volume of tasks and understand how many things you do per day.
Replace the phone with a book. Coronavirus news will not radically change your life, but it will certainly add disturbing thoughts to it. I am sure that you have two or three books that have been waiting for several years in a row. So get comfortable and immerse yourself in a new reality.
Help volunteer neighbors or arrange cleaning. A little physical activity, a clean room and you're done!
Chat. Call your friends and acquaintances, we all need support. Even a simple SMS can save a day. Do not forget about parents. . However, try to remember how often you talk to your parents about them. Perhaps you should learn more about those around you? Start a conversation - this is a cool reason to get closer. Take care of others. Perhaps some of your neighbors need help: go grocery shopping or walk a dog. Adhere to quarantine regulations with concern for others.
We can decide whether to panic or do something. I advise you to stay calm. The quarantine will pass, and it is definitely not worth the mental problems with all their consequences.
