In some moments i feel same like you but in the end i have opportunity to learn the language i have free weekends i dont have really so much obligations that take my whole time during the weeks so i have opportunity to meet the community so it is better.Just still i dont have mentor to talk with what are my problems and to ask for help for dealing with them but i have open talks with my host organization in which i can express my feelings and stuff. Btw i wanted to say to you that if u canceled your project u can apply for another one and try to find out as much as possible information about the host organization from previous volunteers even if u cannot find one that was volunteer there try to find volunteer who knew someone from that organization and to tell you their experience ,that how u can ensure that u have chosen the right place to go.

Thanks for the comment. I did not know, if you quit once, you have an other opportunity, but I will tell it to my friend who quit.

That's really wrong, I mean volunteers should be there to enhance the project not substutute someone elses work, which as it looks like is what happened to you. I would hope your organisation faces the consequences of this and either change their EVS placement or not get funded in the future. There are amazing EVS places out there and I was lucky enough to get one. It wasn't without it's own problems, but overall it was a brilliant project. Sadly though they had to fight really hard to get new EVS funding, which makes me sad seeing that such bad examples are still funded.

I'm currently experiencing a similar problem - I work in a cafe, and I work both nights and weekends. Whenever I'm free, everyone else is at work!

Maybe EVS volunteers should start campain and do not let organizations, who just use volunteers for their benefit exsis? I heard many stories, that volunteers come and have nothing to do, or do something, what doesn't look like lifle long learning (cleaning the kitchen:). As in the end, it's just the vaste of EU money. NO?
