This article is one of a kind! I think this is a real genuine description of what EVS can be, far from the bright enthusiastic deadly boring descriptions I usually read. I was a volunteer and I am a tutor now; reading this has made me think a lot about the saddest moments I faced in my project and has gave me a lot of wise point of reflection to be a better tutor. Thank you!

My warmest THANK YOU for this article! I'm reading it while I'm doing my EVS, and - well - things could be worse, but they could also be much better. Being stuck in a very rural area, in winter, with a bad relationship with the other volunteer, with little or no support by the people in the organization, and realizing that what I'm doing here is completely different from what was in the call is hard already, and reading blog entries by other volunteers that seem to describe wonderland is the last drop... finally reading an article in which someone says that there are difficult moments even in the best project is somehow comforting and surely more realistic and helpful, it made me feel less "strange" and less "wrong". Some years too late for you to read my comment probably, but still thank you!
