YCM (Yayasan Cipta Mandiri) is a foundation in Bogor, Indonesia for young people to learn English and Life Skills through building confidence and knowledge. It is a non-profit foundation that has currently 150 students ranging in age from 12 -25 years. It aims at bridging the gap in education that sees so many young Indonesian's living in poverty and missing out on crucial educational opportunities that can see them prosper as adults.
YCM is funded through donations and the work of international volunteers is crucial in its success and overcoming the many challenges that youth in Indonesia face in gaining an education.
Volunteers from all parts of the world work at YCM and currently two Germans and two Australians who are on long term placements at YCM.
YCM is much more than a school. it is place where individual talents are nurtured and creative learning is encouraged. students learn everything such as English, sewing, computers, music, filmmaking, mathematics, sport and cooking.
