5th YOUTH Contest: "Europeans involved"

2011/12 European Voluntary Service (EVS) –
Killed time or filled time?!

Did you gamble away your career? Or did you find yourself? What is an European volunteer service for? What is it for you? More knowledge and language skills? Or is it just wasted time which should be used for a vocational training, internship or studies? Pro or contra?

Think about it and take part in the 5th Youth Contest “Europeans involved” on www.youthreporter.eu. This year’s theme is „European Voluntary Service – killed time or filled time?!“. There are two categories: a video- and a writing contest.

Participating is easy:

Register on youthreporter.eu and upload your video clip and/or text from 4th of October 2011 until 31st of March 2012. Your competition entry will be online at youthreporter.eu and can be seen and voted for by other users.  Users will be able to vote for your entry until 30th of April 2012. The final decision will be made by an independent jury in May, taking the votes into account. The winners in both categories will be announced shortly after.

Who rates the Videos?

The Users! Your entry will be online on youthreporter.eu immediately and your friends and other users can vote for it. Voting is open until 30thof April 2012. Afterwards, a jury will nominate the winners taking the votes into account.

Who can participate?

People from European countries who are between 13 and 30 years old can participate. If you are (or were) abroad with YOUTH IN ACTION, participated in a youth exchange, EVS or another project located in the EU, you are very much invited to join in.

Video Contest

Short film, animation, interview, fictional commercial or sketch: There are no limits to creativity! Your video should be edited, set to music and not longer than two minutes. Upload it to youtube.com.

Register on youthreporter.eu or log in if you are already a user. At MYouthreporter and “killed time or filled time?!” you can submit your entry until 31st of March 2012. You need a link to your video and a title. A description for your video and a list of your cast and crew is optional.

Your entry has to be made entirely by yourself. That means you alone hold the rights for it. Videos not made by you are not allowed. It doesn’t matter if the video is new or has been published before – as long as it wasn’t submitted to a video contest on youthreporter.eu in the past.

If you want to use music with your video, you must have the Musicians permission or the rights to use it. When in doubt, hands off your CD-rack! If you don’t want to concern yourself with complicated licences (or play something yourself), try Music Libraries or Common Licence Music. You can find an assortment here. (Sorry, links mostly german)

Please note that if you use music without holding the rights for it, the video may not be viewable in Germany, thus diminishing the votes you might otherwise get!

Writing Contest

Short story, essay, report – let your imagination run wild. Register on youthreporter.eu or log in if you are already a user. At MYouthreporter and “killed time or filled time?!” you can submit your entry until 31st of March 2012.

The entry should naturally be written by yourself in German or English language. Maximum length is supposed to be 9000 characters (with space characters).

It doesn’t matter if the entry is new or if it has been published by you before. Text submitted to a youthreporter.eu contest before is not allowed.

We are excited to see your entries!
