7. JUGEND Wettbewerb "Fremd in Europa": And the winner is….

It was great to have so many entries but even harder to make a decision. From the 117 entries the jury has now selected the four best texts and videos. Members of the jury were Frank Peil (YOUTH for Europe), Andreas Korn (arte), Cornelia Lentz (youthreporter.eu), Britta Berdin (youthreporter.eu), Karoline Becker (youthreporter.eu).

And the winners are:

Writing contest:

1. Place: Die Weisheit der Pflastersteine 
Frauqui convinced the jury with a metaphoric essay about her perception of „home“ in the context of various stays abroad. She wins the first prize of the writing contest. 

2. Place: The 'cultural socks’    
The second prize goes to scb and her humoristic text „The cultural socks“ which deals with prejudices and their overcoming.

3. Place: Lloret de Mar, 20.08.2008
Nicnac transfers melancholia, insanity and strange familiarity about Costa Brava's major party destination Lloret de Mar in an authentic way and gains thereby the third prize.

4. Place: Wir vergolden      
Geickosgecko persuades the jury with her poetic text about a deep connection between two people from different cultures. Congratulations on the fourth prize!

Public's Choice Award: Mein Traum vom besseren Leben
You have chosen: The most positives rates go to stickyRice and her experiences as a former “foreign” in Germany. She wins the public’s choice award in the writing contest.

Video contest:

1. Place: Farben überwinden
Eva_Nour convinced the jury and wins the first prize in the video contest. In her video she compares young European volunteers and a refugee in Germany. She shows the privileges of volunteers in a foreign country in contrast to a refugee in Germany who is often confronted with negative prejudices.  

2. Place: Endstation Ponte Mammolo
JPKako persuades the jury with his documentary „Endstation Ponte Mammolo“ which shows the difficult conditions of African refugees in Italy. He gains the second prize for his video.

3. Place: „What did you expect?“      
Bethechange takes the third prize for her humoristic video about country-specific stereotypes. The conclusion: “Expect nothing and appreciate everything“.

4. Place: Do your best       
Eurowerkstatt convinced the jury with a music video concerning the living together of European volunteers.

Public's Choice Award: Big Cultural Shock in Europe? WHAT?    
You have chosen: Marian wins the public’s choice award with his statement about the opportunities of a limitless travelling through Europe.
